AQAP ADVERTISES KILL/CAPTURE REWARDS FOR ALI SALEH, AL-HOUTHI
By Michael S. Smith II

On 8 April 2015, propagandists for al-Qa’ida’s Yemen branch, AQAP, which is helmed by the second-highest ranking official in al-Qa’ida, distributed a poster that announced the group’s pledge to reward individuals twenty kilograms of gold for killing or capturing ousted Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, and an equal reward for killing or capturing Houthi leader Abdulmalik Badrudin al-Houthi (see below image).

The poster reads:

An announcement of a prize
to whom would kill or capture Ali Saleh or Al-Houthi

We in the Organization of Qa’idatul Jihad in the Arabian Peninsula announce the following:

– A prize and a reward of twenty kilograms of gold to whomever would kill or capture the ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh.

– A prize and a reward of twenty kilograms of gold to whomever would kill or capture the leader of the Houthis Abdulmalik Badrudin Al-Houthi.

O Muslims, follow the behavior of the noble companions of the prophet Mohammad –pubh, such as Mohammad ibn Maslamah, Abdullah ibn Ateek, and Fayruz Ad-Dailami who stroke down heads of disbelief, cut the roots of corruptive ones and confront the leaders of disbelief and polytheism. This is your day, and this is a new page of your jihad, so let Allah see the good from you.

In addition, a formal statement from the group was also distributed via Twitter (screenshots below).
