‘THE PAKISTANI REGIME: THE AGENT OF THE DEVIL’
By Michael S. Smith II
The official media outlet of al-Qa’ida’s senior leadership, as-Sahab, is promoting an English-language video message with Arabic subtitles from the American-born jihadi Adam Gadahn, titled “The Pakistani Regime: The Agent of the Devil.”
In this eight-and-a-half-minute missive, Gadahn rails against US-allied governments of Muslim-majority “statelets.” Aside from the Pakistani government, the governments of Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq are among the institutions Gadahn cites as agents of the “Crusader West” in the Muslim world. Ironically, so too is the Qadhafi regime of Libya.
Further, according to Gadahn, the “evil, hypocritical, and depraved Saudi regime” is the “biggest Western tool” among the governments alleged to be supporting the “Western-run world order.” Gadahn asserts that, “for decades” the Saudi government “has been using its oil wealth and exploiting its occupation of Mecca and Medina to control Islamic movements and governments throughout the Muslim world, and ensure that these movements and governments never pose a threat to the West and the Jews who occupy Palestine.”
The DOWNRANGE team will provide further coverage of this message and al-Qa’ida’s emphasis on waging jihad in the Indian subcontinent during the days ahead. In the meantime, a copy of the video posted to YouTube by a user account named “aman Islam” — a link to which was Tweeted during the past 24 hours by as-Sahab’s official Twitter account — is accessible here.
